FUNCTIONALITY OF PASSIVE RFID TAGS

Passive RFID tags consist of an antenna and a microchip with information stored on it. In contrast to active RFID chips / tags, which must be equipped with an energy source, the receiving or transmitting unit of the passive RFID chips / tags can be activated by the energy transmission of the readers.

This makes the passive RFID tags much more cost-effective and attractive for goods traffic in logistics processes or in applications where activation of the passive RFID tags is easily enabled by reader units, such as RFID gates or RFID handheld readers.
